In the early stage of filtration, small particles flow out and the filtrate becomes turbid. As the filter cake layer forms and thickens, the filtrate gradually becomes clear. As the sieve holes gradually become clogged, the filtration speed decreases. After the formation of the filter cake layer, the filter cake layer undergoes sieving, and the filter material loses its sieving effect, only serving to support the filter cake layer, hence it is called filter cake layer filtration.
(2) Adsorption filtration (deep filtration): The mesh size of the filtering medium is greater than the diameter of the solid particles, and the solid particles are adsorbed on the surface of the medium after entering the pores.
In fact, in actual production, oil-water separation cloth filtration and adsorption work simultaneously. The adsorption filter medium intercepts larger particles, and the filter cake layer of the filtration filter medium can adsorb smaller particles.

① Fabric media, such as industrial filter cloth, metal wire mesh, etc;
② Granular media, such as perlite powder, cellulose, diatomaceous earth, etc;
③ Solid boards, such as bleached wooden boards, synthetic fibers, etc;
④ A filtration membrane composed of cellulose and other polymers. The surface of the fabric is treated with granular media as a filter aid for coarse filtration; Solid cardboard medium is used for semi fine filtration and fine filtration; Membrane media are used for fine filtration and ultrafine powder filtration.
